Youngsters coming from several countries publish an e-book to present the Gross National Happiness indexes

How to calculate the well-being of society?

_

Why not to measure a country’s richness through the Gross National Happiness indexes rather than with the Gross Domestic Product (GDP)?

What does Well-Being entail, this new political concept based on the quality of life and introduced by some countries of the world, like Bhutan and Bolivia, as an alternative to the logic of capitalist development? Some answers to these questions are clarified in “International Forum for Well-Being by the Youth Press Agency”.

The publication includes articles and interviews with some of the protagonists at the international event “International Forum for Well-Being” held for the first time in Europe from 6th to 8th June 2018 in Grenoble, in the French Alps. Among these, Sylvie Bukhari-de Pontual and Patrick Viveret (France), Method Gundidza (Zimbabwe), Dasho Karma Ura (Bhutan), Asier Ansorena (Brasile) and Pablo Solón (Bolivia).

Realized with the support of the University of Grenoble-Alpes, FAIR (Forum pour d’autres indicateurs de richesse), CCFD-Terre Solidaire, the Municipality of Grenoble and Grenoble-Alpes Métropole, the Forum aimed at presenting and promoting exchanges of experiences in the context of Well-Being.

Seventy-five workshops created the ideal environment where around a hundred participants had the chance to interact. To share ideas and opinions were not only researchers, representatives and members of local administrations, but also civil society organizations and citizens coming from twenty-five countries of the world.

The three intense days at the international Forum were reported by the Youth Press Agency, a team of twelve reporters from South Africa, Argentina, Vietnam, Brazil, Romania, Italy and France. The Youth Press Agency is born as a collaborative journalism programme for the production of innovative and creative articles, interviews, photo-reportages and videos. Every content is published online on www.youthpressagency.org. The e-book, a special production dedicated to the Forum, is available online or can be requested in PDF format by e-mail to info@viracaoejangada.org.

With the wish that all readers could get inspired and could begin or start again their way to Well-Being.
